goodbye big blue, HELLOS BIG RED!!!

Well, I've got some news for all of yall, and it will probably be very unexpected, except for those who live very near me. Various, but particular circumstances, that relate both to my college experience and my current personal life, have caused me to reconsider my current situation. After considerable contemplation in this matter, and seeking counsel from the authorities, I have decided it is in my best interest to transfer, yes, transfer, to Ohio State. This may come as a surprise to you, (especially since they beat the Tigers this year in the tournament, though I assure you, sports has not influenced my decision in the least), but I feel it is the best move for me to make in my current circumstances. I will plan to enroll in the internationally renown Music Education program, with a minor in Musicology. And who knows, I might find a cute little Buckeye to bring home with me :-)

The Uniformity of a book collection is a beautiful thing....

Yesterday I completed my collection of the Jane Austen novels from the Barnes & Noble Classics series. Three years ago, they began publishing the hardbacks, and included were Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, Persuasion, and Mansfield Park. They discontinued the hardbacks last year (I suspect because there were too many typos, (as I found a few in the books I read), and hence, I had an incomplete JA series. Yesterday I went to B&N and noticed a brand new selection of the hardbacks including the original titles as well as new ones. I was very excited to see they had published Northanger Abbey, and though there were three or four more titles I wanted to purchase I settled for only that one. And now my bookshelf feels much more prestigious, having a "complete" set of Jane Austens! (minus the much less known Lady Susan)

Neither of the computers (well actually, there are usually four) at my house will let me get on blogspot domains, so I have been handicapped to the umphest degree in regards to posting. And when I am at school, I more than likely, shouldn't be spending my time doing this. I guess I shouldn't be doing this either. oh well.

one day i will finish that poem.

The ballad of Moses Phillipe Montgomery Druit Down

that was actually pretty fun, I think I shall compose another.

There once was a boy who looked very sad.
He sat on a stump, sure did that young lad.
Before him were fields of very green grass,
And almost unseen a beautiful lass.

This lass donned blonde hair,
though she'd say "that's not fair,"
For you know the story,
A Blonde's dumb as Dory.

But despite that tale horrid
She remained free from morbid
And continued to think upon things like red roses,
As red as the sea that was parted by Moses.

Coincidence 'twas not that the boy's own name
Was so very close, in fact 'twas the same
His mother, Jo Le, had decided upon it:
Moses Phillipe Montgomery Druit.

Young Moses was sad because of this fact,
He wanted to alter his name to Joe Mack,
To honor his mom who was, oh, quite the clown,
And for his pop, called Smithy Mack Down.

to be continued...

NEWS FLASH: 2 + 2 may not equal 4

What is the thing with me about posting? The thing that sings to the tune of something like "I don't post near as much as I used to, and they ones I do post are probably not as interesting." That may be sung to the tune of whatever you like, because I didn't think of anything before hand.

Life is so interesting. You know what quote that goes through my head all the time? well, don't look far, you have to look only in the next sentence and you will discover that very phrase of which I speak... All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players.

God has his own comedy show down here on earth, 24/7 , and he doesn't even have to play stage manager. We just make it all up as we go along, and no doubt provide him countless hours of fun and humor. I do not mean to make light of God nor his creation, I mean only to highlight the often silly and ignoramus ways in which we handle situations in life. Maybe you don't handle your situations in such ways, and if that is the case, then yay for you, but many out there do and I am not to be excluded from that list.

I think I shall end this post. the end.

I want to be related to a monkey.

I just had to laugh when I read the title of this article I found on Reuters.com.

"Humans, chimps split 4 million years ago: study"
You can read this rather humorous article by clicking here.
Posted along with the article was the above picture. It struck me very funny. Why are people so determined to link themselves to some animal? especially an animal as ugly as this? It does not follow sense.

Read the title of this post. Doesn't that sound ridiculous?
These people cannot be searching for the truth. They aren't searching for anything. In fact, these so-called evolutionists kinda remind me of Taco Bell. They are just repeatedly pounding their little "ingredients" down our throats in many different forms. But it's all still just meat, cheese, and bread.

George Steiner on the centrality of the Bible...

"What you have in hand is not a book. It is the book. That, of course, is what 'Bible' means. It is the book which, not only in Western humanity, defines the concept of a text. All our other books, however different in matter or method, relate, be it indirectly, to this book of books…All other books are inhabited by the murmur of that distant source."

ok people, have you forgotten how to comment? I am not asking for something brilliant, although such is always welcome, just something to show you stopped by! now if three comments on my last post really means that only three people have read my post, that is ok with me. but i seriously doubt that is the case.

comment volume is crucial to keeping me happy. and when i am not happy, i don't post.

three cheers for comments!

Recharche

It is not a strikingly isolated thing for me execute a stare-down with the computer screen before me whilst venturing to inaugurate, much less, effectuate a post for my blog. Especially during these chronological allotments, though not exclusively, I contemplate in a character of befuddlement why I am so often unable to predispose a suitable theorom about which to envisage.

maybe that's why.

'Midst the Younguns

One of the innumerable blessings of being an older brother is getting to be an example. But it doesn't end here. You can turn this blessing into a curse if you don't watch it.

I am privileged to have three brothers younger than I. All my life I have been told that the younger ones are watching us older boys all the time. They see how we react to different situations. They hear how we talk - how we respond to criticism - how we speak to our elders - what we choose to talk about in ordinary conversation - and the words we use to converse. I know as a "young guy" (and I dare not assume that even now I am retired from that status, for surely, if only in this regard, I am still midst the heart of boyhood), I have acted as a vulture in watching the actions of those a few years older than I, and even those many years beyond my own. I have found myself regarding what I see them do as standards for my own actions. To simply put it, "if he did it, it is ok for me to do it."

I have in my younger years, also picked up trivial habits because I saw one of the "older guys" doing it and I thought it was cool. Actually I can distinctly recall one of the major habits I formed that was a result of seeing someone else do it. Many many years ago, probably when I was 8 or so, I was in my front yard playing, and I guy came walking down the other side of the street. I saw him spit on the sidewalk. For reasons I am unable to explain (though i expect it has to do with the male's natural tendency to show his masculinity, and apparently spitting is one of those "cool," rough and tough things to do...just maybe) I thought that was way-cool, so I started spitting. Ever since, but not before, spitting has been quite a regular habit. And ever since I realized it was not so cool, and even less-than-cool, maybe even un-cool, I have struggled to stop it. (but for the record, i am doing better).

Ok, so i went on a little rabbit trail, but I did have point to the story. That being, I picked up a very strong habit, even from someone I didn't know, just because I was watching him and wanted to imitate him. That is what these little guys are doing, even if you don't realize it. They are watching and imitating us. Our little brothers are watching us. Our little brothers may even think we are cool (though i would not want to assume it to be so, it would probably be to our advantages as older bros to do so). If they do think we are cool, they will want to do what we do, they will want to be cool like us.

I never liked it when Roy and Harris imitated me. I wanted to do things that were just me, no one else. But at a point I realized that they were just trying to be like me. They just wanted to be big like me. When that became a reality to me, I decided that maybe them imitating me wasn't so bad. It has been kinda neat to have a following.

This is where ends meet. In reference to the first portion of this, now lengthy, post (any of yall still with me?) having a Following of Younguns is a blessing. We must try our very hardest to not miss-lead them. It is our prerogative to be on our guard as to what we say and how we act especially when we are around younger kids (at church, for example), and certainly always, for we are always being watched by God.

For they covered the face of the whole earth...

...so that the land was darkened.

This verse gave me chill bumps when I read it two days ago. Recorded in Exodus 10:15, this passage refers to the plague of locusts that "went up over all the land of Egypt," which God sent down as part of his Sovereign plan to rescue the children of Israel from their captivity. I am currently reading in Exodus and I am having "more fun than a barrel of monkeys," to borrow an expression from my much-loved pastor. Ever single chapter is a testament of God's absolute power over the earth and all things therein. Each is a bull horn in my ears re-sounding
Daniel 4:35: "And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

While proving his authority, God also manages to humor me with his miracles. It is as though he is telling me a story of one of his many incredible feats of sovereignty that are found in his autobiography. When he sees me listening intently with my mouth dropped in awe, he says "Ha, you think an ever-burning bush is something? Check out my Plague Portfolio." So he goes on to tell me the account of the Plagues. He comes along to the Plague of hail and tells me, "So I told Moses to go tell Pharaoh I said If you don't let my people go, then I am going to send mighty thunderings and hail - and fire, "such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt..." and it will smite all the land of Egypt, both the men and animals, and every herb of the field, and it will brake every tree. And by the way, your slaves aren't going to feel a thing."

God didn't have to power up with Miracle Grow after each event. He didn't have to wait seventy-two hours for the Plague Potent to take effect. Nor did he have to write an OEP*
Instruction Manual to hand out to the frogs who covered the land, the lice who came from the dust of the earth, the grievous flies who corrupted the land, or the locusts who covered the face of the whole earth so that the land was darkened. No, God just spake, and it was done. Justly, Righteously, Omnisciently, God, who has all power in heaven and earth, by his own means persuaded Pharaoh, "who knew not the Lord, and would not let the people go" (Ex. 5:2), to command Moses, Aaron, and the Israelites to "Rise up, and get you forth from among my people..and go, serve the Lord."

As Moses and the children of Israel sang to the Lord after their emancipation, "Who is like thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonder?" (Ex. 15:11)

The Three Little Swines
Some lego dude sat down beside Daddy while he was taking a nap and tried to do an impersonation...not too bad

San Diego: Day 1, Tuesday

The week before Christmas, my Family (which would include myself, no?) journeyed to San Diego of sunny California, where the Palm Trees wave at you as you pass by and the Ocean sends waves by sea. Our trip was was 6 days long and we took an average of about 200 pictures a day. Despite the lousy resources, i thought I would give a series of picture posts by day. This is for the primary reason that I don't really want to write very much about the trip, and it looks like I have already done more than I had planned. Some minor subtitles may be in order, so you will not be completely out the dark. My thoughts on San Diego? If not for a few missing vital functions, I could foresee me living there sometime. Maybe just for a while :-). Let the Story Begin.

These are my favorite pictures from the sky. The bending horizon of the earth of is distinct and it provides an awe-full realism of the magnitude and majesty of God's creation. The city is Minneapolis, which was our connecting flight to SD.

Davis, Roy, and Mama in the plane.

We ate at Rubio's for lunch in SD, where I ate my first fish taco, and it was very good. Mama, said, however, that she still preferred Blue Coast Burrito's fish tacos.

The Beauchamp Family with the non-so-viewable city and mountainous backdrop of San Diego

Roy and I create a nice piece of visual trickery using a sailboat from the San Diego Bay.

Dave poses beside San Diego, and her bay.

Point Loma was the first place we went. This Pt. is apparently the south-western most tip of the United States. That was a cool feeling. As you can see, a lighthouse overlooks the shore, from where, the picture was taken.

etc., etc., etc.

A Beautiful mother, on a beautiful hillside...

The chaps examining a crab caught in one the tide pools

On the beaches of St. Valarie. (if you do not know the significance of these beaches, consider yourself depraved.) No, not really, merely the beaches of Point Loma(rie), I decided to do a little sand art. Its really quite easy. You just need...an ocean, some land, and a stick.
