1 Down, 79+/- To Go...

It's been a busy day. I just got out of choir, but I will wait to tell you about that until the end.I got up at 7:00 and arrived at campus at about 8:45. Then I drove around in a parking lot for about 10 minutes trying to find a spot to park my car. I finally did and ended up getting to calculus right at 9:10, which is when it starts...

[9:10-10:05, FOGELMAN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS] The Calculus room is a mini lecture hall with stadium seating, etc. My professor is foreign, but I can understnd her pretty well. As far a the course goes, I think that as long as I have a teacher to help me along, like I do, I will be fine.

[10:20-11:15, MITCHELL HALL] I arrived with time to spare. Walter Brown, an old guy, is teaching this World Civ class. Seth is also in this class, and that is going to be the advantage I have over my other classmates, because Seth is a history buff. I may make a tshirt just for this class that says WWSD? This is going to be a very thought provoking class; one in whic we have to consider the mind processes and the developments, or lack there of, of civilizations, and discuss why, how, etc. I noticed, and I am sure Seth also did, that during one point in which Mr. Brown was saying a list of things, he studdered when he got to the "god" part; he chose to say "the gods."

[11:30-12:25, PATTERSON HALL] I am actually not registered for this class but I want to be in it, even though it is "full," so I went and talked to the professor. Ryan is in this one also. The professor guy just got his MD - in something - I assume English, and is working on another MD here. (His first one he got at UKentucky, if I am not mistaken) This one is pretty much just more English/Essays, etc., just on the college level. Don't get me wrong, I think it will be plenty difficult.

[1:45-3:15, MUSIC BUILDING] Almost certain to be my favorite of the four. Today we just had a little intoduction, and for the last 45 minutes, waitied outside the door as placement auditions took place. Unfortunately, I was 21 on a list of 24, (they should ahve done it alphabetically). I explained to good ole Mr. Lawrence, that I have grown up all my life singing shape notes/solfege, etc, and am not nearly as proficient with rooouuuund notes. (no, I didnt say it like that) That sounded good to him, and both agreed that it would be a learning experience. I will find out tomorrow which part I will be singing in. I super can hardly wait until we start singing.

I am done for the day. I am about to go home. Thank you Lord for getting me through my first day at college. AMEN!

Well, here it is folks. My not so new car! It is really exactly what I wanted, not so much referring to the " '93 Honda Civic" part, but the manual part, and the 38mpg part. Oh yeah! I bought it at good old Dobbs Honda on Mt. Moriah Rd. on Tuesday, picked it up Wednsday morning, because it had to have a new windshield, and I have been loving every minute of it ever since. As you may notice in the pictures, I have placed my Jack In the Box antennae ball, to show my true colors (i love dog food!), and on the stick I have my kilt, that the Bruces made for me... I really think God answered my prayers with this car. I guess we will find out soon enough! GO TIGERS!!!

Time Well Wasted?

Time Well Wasted gives you a fresh dose of classic Brad Paisley country. This sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride style, like that suggested by Ain't Nothin Like on Mud On the Tires, provides a platform with which Brad created a variety of songs. The most comical song on the album is Flowers, in which he says"Stop the senseless killing; Can't you hear the roses cry; Baby, how many flowers have to die."

My favorite is Waitin On a Woman; the lyrics are pretty good...(the lyrics can be found here.)

A particular plus about Time Well Wasted is that the majority of it's guy/girl songs are not about break-ups, how she left me, all that's left is my dog, all that sad type; but more optimistic, pro-love selections. I guess you will just have to listen to the cd yourself and figure out what I am saying. It was definitely worth $10, and it has certainly enhanced my Brad Paisley collection. The title pretty much says it all, it was indeed Time Well Wasted. (was that too cliche?)

A Look At the Past Weekend...

These are from pics from last weekend, up in Murfreesboro/Nashville, when we went over there for Danny's Graduation. This is Pops, Dan, and my beautiful mum within the MTSU campus, right before we went in to the stadium, where the graduation was held... This is a pretty cool shot, taken by my littel bro, Harry, of Roy, Nathan, and Me (reading Persausion). We were immensly bored, but that was ok. We are behind Dan all the way!
Me at the Boxes. Do my eyes need checking, or does this shot make me look taller?
Me again! waiting to leave...
Me, Dave, and most of Mums. Dave is so cute...

I hope you enjoyed tonight's display of fotos from the past days. I will likely have some more next week, for I am going to the Rich Mountain Association tomorrow, wait, today, at Old Union PBC near Hot Springs, AR. Yall all have a great weekend!

Monologue #1

Hi all you blokes out there who have nothing better to do than visit the Shed of Emotions, to see what you can find to jerk a tear out of you... or keep it in, because there ISN'T anything in hear to make you cry! probably. unless you are having a very emotional day, in which case you would probably cry if I told you that my dog broke his ear today, which would be realy sad. In the first place ears don't brake because they are made of cartilage (not a hard substance, for all you who have no experience with ears), and second of all, I DON'T HAVE A DOG! Not that I wouldn't like a dog; actually I would very much like a dog. preferably a puppy that is grey with blue stockings (you know, those warm things you put over you paws, not pa's,). This would be the idea dog for me. then I could request a change of mascot for the University of Memphis, and we would be the University of Memphis Pups. What a name.

So, today I went to the campus with my good ole buddy Ryan Poe, and I figerd out where all my classes will be. Fun.

One of the things that really gets on my nerves as of late is all the dirty lib and the dirty media that is always bringing out the worst of our country, its leaders, its military, and just about everything that is valuable, ON PURPOSE! Think about how this country would operate so much more efficiently and progressively if the media was reporting on all the progress we ARE making in the Middle East. What if they were encouraging our troops' relations, and a billion other things that they are doing wrong, that they could and should be doing right. We could once more be the UNITED States of America.

I think I may have to go on a Rush and Sean fast because every time I listen to there sweet littleconservative talk shows, I get riled up about them libs. Just gets me under the skin. I think I may build a big bomb. I dont know what I will do with it yet, but at least it will keep me busy, and then when it is finished, I can put it to good use. maybe i will bomb the "bombers." uuuuuughhh...

ok. time to go now. I will go to work tomorrow, and feed up on conservativeness, and go home tired as a tired person, crash on the couch, and finish Persuasion, which to all you bums out there, is a very good book. novel. story. fiction. whatever.

Study of Psalm 3 by Me

“But in all Israel, there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him (II Samuel 14:25).

Absalom, King David’s son, was the fairest man of Israel, but he doesn’t have any position of influence. This may have stoked his desire to betray his father. In chapter 15 of II Samuel, Absalom camps out at the king’s gates early in the morning and talks to those who pass by en route to the king with hopes of being counseled. He tells lies i.e. “There is no man departed of the king to hear thee,” (15:3) and says were he king, he would help everyone that was in trouble. Gradually he amasses loyalists.

In 15:7, Absalom asks David if he can pay his vow in Hebron, and his request is granted. Absalom likely chose here because it was within reasonable distance from Jerusalem, and ideal in which to finalize his conspiracy against his father.

Absalom takes his leave with his two hundred men (v.11) to Hebron. Verse 13 reports that a messenger informs David that “the hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.” In the following verse David takes his household and flees to Mount olive. 15:32 says “When David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God…” This seems to be where Psalm 3 takes place.

1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Once you know the background to this Psalm, it becomes so much more beautiful and meaningful. David has been betrayed by not only his men, but his own son. Yet, he still knows the sovereign God, and readily takes comfort in him. My favorite part of this poem is verse 5: “I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.” This is such a beautiful statement. He goes to sleep having no fear of the enemy, and when he wakes up, acknowledges that God “sustained” him through the night from death.

Oh, that we might all remember that an all-mighty God is present, and surrounds us every moment of our lives, so let us devote our lives to his cause, that is, for glory, honor, and praise all to be his. He is indeed a jealous God.

Did Curiosity Get the Creek?

Good question. With their new album, Nickel Creek is stoking the fire of uniqueness, uniqueness, and again I say, uniqueness. The vocal music is most definitely not beautiful, as were several on their debut cd, and I am afraid, for those of us who are picky, stubborn, and otherwise conservative when it comes to quality music, the performances this time around are for the most part abstract, weird, and sometimes distasteful. The instruments, on the other hand, majorly (not to be taken as a sarcastic adjective) provide a platform for excellent listening music. I am not yet prepared to forsake this project, much less the artists, but I fear that in their effort to find their place in musical individuality, they may stir up wants of the old fashion Nickel Creek.

Sandstorm in Baghdad

Take a look at this captured moment in Bahgdad where a sandstorm has engulfed the area. I can hardly imagine what our troops and others are enduring over there, all in an effort to secure our freedom. Freedom is not free, and let us not forget it. God Bless America...

At Ripe Age of 67, PJ Leaves for Good.

August 7, in the year of our Lord, 2005, ABC News' beloved anchor man, Peter Jennings, passed away into the depths of... somewhere. Age 67, he died in his home within New York City with his family surrounding him. "Peter died with his family around him, without pain and in peace. He knew he'd lived a good life," said his wife and children in a statement. (duh) I often wondered how he could conceal his liberal views in front of the camera for 22 years, but it is now for naught, as he has gone to a different place. good bye, Peter!

An Inside Look at Best Vacuum Care

The top picture is from the saloon doors (in the second pic) looking towards the front door. To the right of the front door is where we keep out large variety of vacuum bags ranging from $4.29 for a pack of 3 to $15.00 for a pack of 3, etc. To the left of the picture (beginning with the yellow vacuum) is our selection of new vacuums ranging from $99.00 to $899.99.

The middle picture is from the entrance (front door) of the shop. The head poking out the side is that of my boss, Henry "Gene" Baggett.

The bottom picture is my bench. I spend 90% of my time in front of it, fixing vacuums, while listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mike Fleming (local conservative host) on the radio which is on the far left of the shelf. The guy at the sink is my boss.

I miss Daniel very very much and I hope he will be able to find a job in M'town soon and come home. This post is in honour of you Dan. The first picture is to remind you to keep looking ahead and not stop. The second is to help make you chuckle when you are having a tough day. Love you bro...

An Explanation

I fully expected to have to create this post, which is fine, because I rather wanted to put it into words. I love... words.

To the point... I was reading a comment by the queen on my post about Granny and I saw it as though it were a zip file - in this case, a lot of regards compressed into a few sentences.

"What would I do without her? I love that lady so much. You're blessed to be her grandson, and blessed that she loves you so much (and believe me, she does). And that you get to love her back. What a privilege.

It rather inspired me, and that title is what came out. I found it quite nifty when I thought it over, for, as the comments have suggested, it could be taken two ways. And being the grandson of a pun-lover that I am, I instantly became fond of it. I have not yet decided if it shall be permanent, but the possiblilty is certainly there.
